Passage One Frustration Grows at Carousel As More Baggage Goes Astray

自从8月10日，航空公司对大部分随身携带的流质物品发布禁令后，行李检查的数量陡增，造成大量行李放置错乱，而这种失误将可能在假期旅行旺季持续恶化。

据交通部门报告，8月份有107，731位飞机乘客行李丢失，与去年同期相比增加了33％。9月份的情况更为糟糕，另有l83，234位乘客的行李处理不当，这比去年上升了92％。

依据国际航空电讯集团公司的统计——一家向航空公司和机场出售关于行李和其他系统的软件的公司，全球每年大约有3千万件行李被遗失。航空公司要寻到这些丢失的行李，再送到往往愤怒等待的乘客那里，这将造成全球航空公司每年损失25亿美元。

每年，仅有约20万件丢失行李能终物归原主，这个数字单听起来相当可观，但那意味着在数十亿件计的行李中，每年仅能核实的行李不到1％。

在美国，在行李操作系统方面为糟糕的是美国费城航空公司和东南大西洋航空公司两大航空公司。目前的补救工作正在进行中，其中东南大西洋航空公司在亚特兰大采取三角形接线法进行操作。这两家航空公司曾过度缩减员工和设备。但到感恩节前，这些大型中转机场能否流畅运作都很难确定。
